[IC] Noxary X60 R
« on: Fri, 12 January 2018, 16:53:26 »
Didn't think I'd be posting another thread with X60 in so soon, but here we are. I'll keep it brief.

I will be doing a very small run of a revised version of the original X60 named X60 R. It keeps the original aesthetics of X60 V1, but has completely overhauled internal construction that addresses all issues from the previous version (noted below).

I'm expecting to receive the engraving for the weight by Sunday evening. I'll then get the case quoted for production (will announce pricing once received), and start the buy (estimating late next week). Probably FCFS, but might do raffle if there is a lot of demand.

I may develop a USB-C QMK PCB if there is demand for a PCB to be included. Currently I won't be providing one so there is freedom of choice.

Plate shown is a placeholder. There will be a universal plate available in different materials.

This is not X60 V2. That'll be ran in the future, so don't worry if you miss this one.

Case Information:
  • 8 Degrees Angle
  • Top Mounted Plate with Switch Opening
  • Compatible with any Standard 60% PCB
  • Choice of 3 Different Top Pieces
Specification:
  • Black, Dark Gray, and Silver Anodizing
  • Brass Through Weight with Engraving
  • Aluminium, Brass or Stainless Steel Plate
  • 1 of 20
Price (excluding fees + shipping):
  • Case (Top/Weight/Bottom) - $340
  • Plate - $30
  • PCB - $30
Change Log from V1 to R:
More
  • Fixed fitment issues with some PCBs around the USB cutout.
  • Lowered height of front from 19mm to 16mm.
  • Changed plate mounting spacing to prevent excessive flex on the sides.
  • Plate fitment to top piece will be tighter to decrease adjustment needed.
  • Changed inner corner sizing for the top piece & cap fitment to be tighter.
  • Fixed weight fitment.
  • Changed weight proportions to be more balanced.
  • Updated plate to not be ugly.
  • Fixed ISO Enter cutout.

Price/Shipping/Lead Time:
  • Price TBA (See above).
  • DHL Express (1-3 days fully tracked) approx. $40 USA, $20 UK, $30 EU, $50 Asia.
  • Estimated May delivery.
Thanks! :-*

seems like a decent project, but i'd like to see a larger run, maybe 15-20 instead of 10

10 is a bit on the "forced scarcity"/private GB side

but other than that, iterating is always good

How different will the aesthetics of the V2 case be? I知 quite a fan of the current design, so I知 not sure if I should just wait for the V2.

Hey, I know this is kind of an odd question, but would/could you do a board that doesn't get any annode? I like the look of raw metal very much.

The larger run will be X60 V2, I don't want this to become too big where it'll be problematic. If there is demand for 20 then I don't see why not, but there are so many 60s coming out at the minute that it might not be sensible to.

Yes, as Puddsy said, it'll be announced shortly.

;D

Slimmer bezels (V1/R are 8/4mm, V2 will be 6/4); different edge finishing (V1/R is chamfer, V2 is rounded); different engraving design (more similar to 268). Few other small things, but mostly those three.

Don't see why not.

Is FJELL/Revo-like white coating possible?

And more care from the factory please. No tightened screws or dings for example.

Looking at the number of people viewing this thread, there seems to be quite some interest. More than 10 spots should go away fairly easily.

Would you also consider stainless steel weights and maybe a polymer or composite plate?

Edit: Also a vote from me for raffle instead of FCFS.

So many options, but this is still the best looking 60% imo.. even if the price is a bit hard to swallow

Probably, but I don't want to over complicate things.

Different factory from X60 V1 (same as 268, Fjell, Klippe etc.) so no issues like that.

Cheers to hoping I can snag a spot in here!

I think it's safe to say this will be a raffle due to the amount of comments

Bad news, they won't match :'(

Yes, that is a slight concern but hopefully the demand is there when it comes to release.

What ya mean? These look similar to me:

I just mean like design family, i know i can't get a X60AG in the same colors as my 268 lol.

What kinda time frame you thinking on the R anyway? I may still try, can't decide. What are the chances of a navy blue option :P

268 is 4.6/4mm bezels, X60 V2 will be 6/4mm.

There won't be a X60AG by the way, AG was a one off thing :)

Time frame should be pretty good considering the amount. I'm not sure how much time the factory will be inactive for for CNY, so kinda hard to work it out. I've posted May above but could be a lot quicker than that.

It's in the OP: "Plate shown is a placeholder. There will be a universal plate available in different materials."

I'm guessing the render is just xondat's preferred layout. With the 268, he offered a universal and a fixed layout plate.

I simply couldn奏 get my hands on a R1 X60. Either way too overpriced on mechmarket or not quick enough. I僧 lucky enough to be part of your 268 AG, but as I really like your designs, I租 consider an X60 HHKB in Dark Grey.

Thanks again for the support, been quite unexpected. Going off that, there is a chance I will increase to 20. I still have general concerns about meeting that number due to there being a lot of buys open right now.

Advantages to doing 20 is that more people can get one, and it'll cost less. On the other hand, little bit more complex to run as a buy, and also will take a bit longer. I think those are okay tradeoffs, and I'm happy to go with them.

Once I get the engraving, I'll get quotes for 10 & 20 cases, and judge from that.

For now, it would be highly appreciated if the people that would like a case could fill in the following form. Please fill this in with the spec you'd want if you had a slot. This will help with the quote (top pieces) and having a good idea of what people want. :p
