Looks very simple and classy Xondat. Absolutely zero complaints (except if I can’t get one ;) )

Here is the engraving!

I think it stays true to V1 but keeps it elegant.

Also confirms the quantity which I'm sure a few will be glad to see.

Thoughts? ;D

Looks great! Dibs on #13 :)

I love it, elegant and classy. Strong

Not to rush you, xondat, but do you have a ballpark idea of price?  I tried looking through the r1 thread but I’m still curious.

The Ares buy is closing soon, but this would be my first choice if I can afford it (and if I get a spot...!)

Glad it's going down well :-*

They won't be individually numbered :'( A lot of work, especially when I want to keep it simple.

Completely understandable :)

I think $370-380 will be an achievable price with 20. This will be without a PCB, but I'll be able to provide a $30 QMK USB-C PCB.

Extra plates would be about $30 depending on the material, and US shipping $50ish for DHL Express.

E: Also I'm aware Ares closes 17th and CLS 31st. I'm not sure I'll be able to start before the 17th, but definitely before CLS. Hoping this week, just got a couple of small things to do.

Why you gotta make such nice looking boards at Xondat. I kept telling myself I’d wait, but I wants it lol. At least as long as the colors are interesting.

Is it? It’s a little higher than usual (normally can do $350). The low quantity doesn’t help :'(

Out of interest, what were you expecting?

That said, it seems pretty normal to me, especially given the batch size and options. What was the original? Like 350 right?

Something you should consider is making this run WKL only if that will reduce price any. Wouldn’t be good for me, but that seems to be where the most interest is, and cheaper keyboards for everyone is always a good thing.

If there has been major interest for WKL version would you consider making this WKL only run? Maybe it could bring the price down a little. $370-380 without PCB sounds little pricey. Out of all 60% options at the moment your board is definitely the one I'm the most interested in. Keep up the good work!

Well I saw a graph yesterday, HHKB is more than half so... I doubt a WKL only run makes sense.

Well I saw a graph yesterday, HHKB is more than half so... I doubt a WKL only run makes sense.

I think a lot of it is just that there are lots of hhkb options. This is just about the only wkl one. It’s only 20 boards anyway and it COULD help pricing.

Don’t get me wrong. I myself would want hhkb, but I can always wait for R2 and there are plenty of alternatives.

I wouldn’t be mad if he chose WKL only just to lower costs and put more of them out there for people who care. TBH I might try for one even though I probably wouldn’t use it much just cause it is a nice look.

Regardless. There will be more than enough interest no matter what he picks.

The only thing that makes sense would be to remove 60% as there are only about 8 wanting it vs the much higher amounts for HHKB/WKL. I’m not sure this would affect the price as much as anybody wants it to though.

If the price is too high for a small group of people, there is still plenty of demand so I’m not sure. Of course I’d love to run this at $300 or something but it just isn’t realistic.

It may be worth assessing what to keep/remove after people get in. If there are 10 HHKB, 9 WKL, and 1 60% then I wouldn’t really want to run a 60% top.

Thought I posted it here but turns out I didn't.

The split from the form is as follows:
  • HHKB - 52%
  • WKL - 37%
  • 60% - 11%

Consider the unlikely: removing the brass weight may reduce the price a bit? That must be an awful tradeoff to a lot of people but hey you get to carry your X60 around more easily.

I would rather run a lightweight version, but that takes away from the main feature :))

If I can't fill the 20 slots, I'll consider a few things.

Should be able to start the GB this Saturday the 20th, and have a 6 hour raffle between 2PM - 8PM EST. Pricing @ 20 would be $370 + $30 additional plates + $30 optional PCB (if there is interest).

Options available:

Case:
  • HHKB/WKL/60*
  • Black/Dark Gray/Silver
Plates:
  • Singular layout
  • Aluminum - Black/Dark Gray/Silver/Red
  • Stainless Steel - Horizontal Brushed*
  • Brass - Mirror Polish*
* Unconfirmed but likely.

Any thoughts? Planning on joining? Hate everything about it? LMK :))

I'm hoping I can snag a spot.  I haven't built a kb before and love your work.  The price is okay, if the extra plates were a little cheaper it'd be easier to purchase more than one;)
Will you (or someone) outline how the raffle works?

Thanks for all of your work!

Thank you! Not sure the plates will be lower :(

The raffle will be quite simple: fill in the form as you would normally with a normal group buy, and when it's closed, I'll send a message to the winners & then invoice. Unpaid invoices will be reraffled.

Hmmm... with the limited colors, maybe I will have to finally make myself get a silver board. I know they look nice but I can’t seem to get myself to buy one, but for some reason I think this boxy style will look especially good in silver.

Someday someone will make my navy keyboard, or I’ll eventually just do it myself lol.

TBH, if I actually knew a decent anode shop, I might consider getting a raw one, but I doubt I'd go with navy for that. If I'm gonna go full custom, I'm gonna do something way more unique than that. Like burgundy or a nice forest green. Someone will eventually make a navy case, and I suppose I could go with the cu66, but I'm not sold on it cause its huge, even if it does look nice.

All I know is this looks real naic:

Don't see why navy won't be a problem as we're doing it for 268. Got to find the balance between too little and too much.

Oh dang! Didn't think you'd allow it as its not an option. If I knew of a good place locally, I'd def try and have this done in white (MAO)!

Edit: If a raw option were available, would going over it with a clear coat spray suffice in keeping the aesthetic?

I forgot to add it but a couple requested it and it's pretty easy to organize/do.

No point doing a clear coat unless you want a more polished surface. I'm sure you know silver anodizing is just clear anodizing.

What color will you be getting for yourself xondat?

I won't be :'(

If I could, then probably Dark Gray WKL.

Any thoughts on doing multiple tops with a single bottom piece (like get 1 HHKB and 1 WKL with only.1 bottom piece)? :D I know it's a longshot but figured I'd ask!

Hmm... Not sure yet. Preferably not, but it's been constantly requested between V1 and this.
