I've assembled LOTS of customs now for others and myself, including 2 LZ-GH keyboards and some really dense chunks of metal like Lightsaver V1, and every keyboard does sound and feel differently.  But with that said, there's nothing resonating about my LZ-GH.  Maybe it's because I always approach keyboard assembly from the angle of picking the parts that make the most sense with each other, which means switches that feel and sound good on a particular keyboard.  My LZ-GH with soft Jailhouse Blues is very very quiet and well-dampened.  I also usually line the space under the PCB with a dampening mat of some sort, if space allows, which I've done with LZ-GH.  To each their own of course, but in my opinion this kit has an excellent unique design, and I love its weight distribution.

IIRC the LZ-GH shipped with a dampening mat, right?

I don't use my LZ-GH daily, but it is my go-to kustom and I've never had an issue with resonating or anything of that sort.  I also use it on a pad on top of the desk if that matters.

The only issue with the original run IMO was the debounce timing, but that was fixed in a firmware update.  Oh and the bar means it's way heavier in the back than the front, but I don't know why anyone would care about that once it's on the desk.

Oh by weight distribution I meant that it's densest and heaviest along the bottom and lighter materials at the top, with the suspended plate/PCB. Makes for a softer typing experience even with the aluminum plate. Instead of a weight insert in the bottom center, there's a more uniform steel plate and the long leg.
I don't know if LZ-GH originally came with a mat--I got it without one (you know the story ;) )

I like the bar. Is it for aesthetic or also for feeling?

My favourite is this, LZ RE, where you get both angle + bar  :thumb: :thumb:
Also love the bottom of it.
Hey, this is LZ GH V2  :p

If it’s to be called the LZ-GH v2, I would vote for a re-creation of the original, with its bar foot and mirrored stainless bottom plate. But I suggest different colors of anodizing, so as to distinguish the new version from the original. So, anything other than black, red, or grey.

I'm with you 100%.

I will be very sad if it’s another TKL, just cause I wanna see what LZ would do with 65% and there is an abundance of tkl. It just seemed like he was asking about doing a new community board, not just rerunning an old one which is also more interesting to me. But I’m just not a TKL fan and realize many people are so there is no right answer.

Something else that could be interesting would be doing a kustom in the c70 layout. I wonder if GMK would let us have stabs. Probably too limiting for keysets to many I suppose.

What a tremendous response! Given these enthusiasms and nostalgia for LZ-GH, original one must have been a masterpiece, though I’ve never seen it. Can’t wait. GAZUA!

To distinguish from old version, wouldn't it just be easier to engrave v2? Both black + grey is very popular colors.

LZ, after CLS s&h, is this the keyboard you planning to run?

I think v2 would best be distinguished by flames across the base of the top portion and a dragon engraved on the weight.

I don't see why not. LZ made an Alps plate/PCB for the original LZ-GH after the GB was over (I have one), so surely they would bring that back as an option.

Does it have feet on the front edge? I don’t see any on there. Adding a recess for feet pads could be a nice simple change for v2.

If the main design is the same I don't see why lz couldn't just use the old alps plate files, and on the same topic, we can use the same old plates.

+1 on the damping mat inside the case. I always got the feeling when I was typing that the case was hollow, but I was dumb enough not to put a mat in it so that will most likely solve all those problems. I also dig the OG design! So clean and timeless. Some suggestions for the GB would maybe be to include screws anodized to the same color as your case. Feel like that would spice up the back plate a notch.

If we are going to avoid the original colors I would recommend going with something like dark green or maybe even the red from the singa75. Either way down for the end product.

I've never had an issue with it either, personally, and mine started out that color.  But it was rather infamous for the pink-salmonness, if you would.

Well it was certainly an unexpected color, which I wasn't too keen on at first.  But once I got over that initial shock, I've grown to love it.  Either that or it's some sort of Stockholm Syndrome.  :))

Maybe nice to see a lighter blue grey option, like this kind of thing:

(not my knife, just the first image result with the colour I was thinking of).

Would look real tasty with the brass bar.
