[Help] Switch not working, Pin bridge
« on: Wed, 16 January 2019, 20:34:20 »
Hello everyone! I'm new and I need some help!

Theres 2 buttons (B and N) not working on my keyboard.
surprisingly these buttons were no problem to remove and replace but didn't work afterwards. (unfortunately didn't tried the keyboard before) but is was brand new.

I have tried a lot of things and came to close things up a little.

What I found out so far:

If I connect pin A (Broken Key) to another A (Working Key) I get a response WHEN CLICKING the switch

If I connect pin B (Broken Key) to pin A (Working Key) I get a response when NOT CLICKING (closed circuit)

--->they registers weird "random" keys!

connected to alt gr: 5
connected to G: G
connected to F: F
connected to D: F
connected to S: F
connected to V: V
connected to C: V

I had it register 2 keys at some times at the same connections. I have no idea why.
It somehow changes the resulting key by what it was connected to before I have a feeling.

The pads were fully intact before and the key was still not responding (I destroyed it afterwards) other keys that look the same are working!
So dont think that that has something to do with my problem.

I figured maybe bridging the pins would fix my issue but i get weird results.

When connecting B to A from a working key the working button gets registered

I tried this Guide but in my case connecting B on broken key to A on working key does not register the broken key but the working one.

Any suggestions? Other methods? May a broken diode be the problem?

edit: I can't spot any traces for the pins on that side of the pcb, if the problem is trace related I would need to turn the pcb over right?

FIXED
Had to connect the broken keys A pin to the right or down arrow keys!
