Title: NEC Blue Oval Switch Repair Help
Post by: BlindAssassin111 on Fri, 29 March 2019, 17:23:09
Okay so I just got in a NEC APC-H412 and sadly the right arrow switch had a broken pin and I can't manage to figure out how to repair it without extensive work or getting another board just for the switch. I could take a switch from the pause key and transplant it in but would rather have all switches functioning if at all possible.

Anyone have any ideas, guides or helpful information?

They are an unusual switch to get hold of.

It would be a shame to sacrifice another keyboard just for a switch, especially when there is every chance that the other keyboard is in good working order.

I managed to find a spare switch from someone here who disassembled an NEC keyboard - perhaps if you ask nicely someone might have a few ...

Yeah the last thing I want to do is take a switch from another board to fix this one, it is just unfortunate that the seller missed that switch(it was sold as "Tested and working", but he was nice and offered a partial refund without even asking).

Are you saying you may know someone?!?! Or just stating that maybe someone will stumble upon this thread and happen to have a few laying around?

I would be grateful to anyone person who would be so kind as to help little ol' me get my board back up and in running order, any help from such a person would be a joyous occasion. So if said person is reading this I would be very grateful to have the opportunity to obtain a replacement switch, and thank you in advance if said opportunity arises.

Also thank you rowdy for commenting on that post last week about the blue oval switches, without you I would never have found this board and purchased it.

I pull switches from PrintSc, Scroll Lock, Pause/Break, or Insert if I'm truly stuck.

rowdy pinged me. I had a bunch of extras of these a while ago. I need to find where they ran off to. It may take a while but if I have any I'd be happy to sell you some for a reasonable fee plus postage. PM me and I'll see if I can dig them up the next time I'm in my storage unit.

Hello! I have several fully working boards that I'd be willing to part with! I'm sure I can work out a fair deal.
