I recently purchased a Hexgears Impulse keyboard, and the only documentation that came with it was this little card:

I understand most of it, but I can't figure out what Fn+1 through Fn+8 actually do. Is it something related to macro programming, which I am yet to delve into, or is it something else entirely?

Fn+1 through Fn+8 are "Media keys" They send commands to your computer to "do something," which your OS may, or may not, pay attention to.
They might do the same thing as the icons on your computer/laptop's F# keys do.

I didn't mean Fn+F1 etc. to control media playback. I understand what those do.
I was asking about Fn+1 through Fn+4, Speed up X characters, and Fn+5 through Fn+8, Delay X mS to accelerate. What do those do?

I think it's key repetition. As in if you hold a key down, it'll change how quick they're sent, and the initial delay.

Thanks, that makes sense now.

Full size Ducky keyboards have (had?) 4 repeat speed keys at the top right as well. From normal to idiotically fast, IIRC.
So it's not an unheard of feature.

Reminds me of someone saying this keyboard is so sensitive, when I accidentally brush a key a sentence pops out.

Might speed up the job of the infinite number of monkeys.

That feature should not even be enabled unless the keyboard is connected through PS/2.
Over PS/2, keys are supposed to repeat by the keyboard resending presses.
Over USB, keys are supposed to repeat on the host only.

I have figured out how it works now:
Fn+F9 = Key repetition speed and delay mode. When you first press Fn+F9, you have to choose between four different delays and repetition speeds using one of Fn+1 through 4 and one of Fn+5 though 8. Using Fn+F9 again will save the selection. Next time you select Fn+F9, one each of 1 through 4 and 5 through 8 keys will be fully lit up to show you previously saved values (which you can change again with Fn+1 through 8 if you want). Depending on which of delay and repetition values you chose, each key you press in this mode will be repeated more or less times after a small or long delay. Press Fn+F9 again to go back to normal keyboard functioning.
I have my keyboard hooked through USB, not PS2, and this does work.
