Title: [IC] ANSI-9 - Enter Key, as inspired by Upas
Post by: PheonixStarr on Thu, 18 April 2019, 23:40:06
Inspired by and made with permission from Upas of Cannonkeys.

"Why no ANSI?" they asked.

"This board is specifically for ISO only, nothing else will be supported. Just ISO Enter," he replied.

"Ne Ansi avail?" they asked again.

"ISO is a minority, please add ANSI support. Thanks," they said once more.

"WE WANT ANSI!" they finally shouted.

He did not listen, but I did—and I heeded the call. We must rise up against the Cannon, for we have nothing to lose but our ANSI chains.

Update
4/28/19

Case revised with an optimized CNC geometry. I've sent out inquiries to a few manufacturers.

The PCB underwent a small revision—the five prototypes will be sold as B-stock at discount, though the LED is somewhat crippled (only able to display grayscale), and for some reason I put a diode on a PCB with one switch.

ANSI-9

Hi, welcome to ANSI-9. This is not a joke; I'm going to produce this whether you like it or not, so come admire my renders and buy.

ANSI-9—as in asinine, because the truth is, that's what this thing really is.

The integrated-plate ANSI-9 is milled from a single, solid block of 6061-T6 aluminum, sandblasted and anodized in four colors: onyx black, rose gold, gold, and silver. Powered by a tiny STM32F082, it features exactly one switch employing a Cherry screw-in stabilizer, RGB backlighting, USB-C, and hopefully, KeyPlus, if I can figure out how the damn thing works. QMK will be the fallback.

PRICING UPDATE

Since this is a relatively low volume project with an incredibly simple PCB, I'll save costs by assembling the SMD components myself. I intend to sell these at $45 a unit: case, the plate on bottom, four screws, rubber feet, and circuitboard. Shipping not included.

A left shift in row 3 profile is not a true enter. BAE or ISO are. I'd take ISO economy wise.

Time to learn how to solder, I guess. Haha seems like a lot of work for one switch so hotswappable switches would be amazing! Maybe there could be an optional service to have it solder since you are assembling the pcbs and smds and etc etc etc
