Title: Curious as to how to use the banners posted by others.

Btw I mean the images other people post to support a new project like GMK Black Lotus. I know you need to copy the code they give but I'm not sure where to put it in order to make it visible on a post.

Go to your Profile - Forum Profile, and paste the code on the Signature box and save your changes.
