Title: Spots of rust on the board
Post by: lanox on Sat, 27 April 2019, 22:53:52
Hi,

I am sure this has been asked before, however I couldn’t  t find answer. I have fc660c and topre 87u, today I decided to give them a nice complete clean, upon removing the keycap I noticed there is few rust spots on both keyboards. I was wondering is there anything I  could do to prevent it from happening more ? Also should I do something about it or not to worry ?

Thanks

Oil can help with preventing corrosion. Would want to avoid getting it on the PCB though, probably. Maybe others who've encountered this with keyboards specifically have some thoughts.

I had a Filco that had a few small rust spots on the metal plate.  I sanded the rust off with a spot sanding pen and touched up the bare spots up with some automotive touch-up paint I had lying around.  The sanding pen I used is a 3M product that has very small fiberglass bristles, but I've seen the same thing for sale at Harbor Freight.  It's pretty cool for sanding precise things.
