I don't feel like the thing I do is my occupation. It's literally just a place to go during the day and get money. I've zero interest or passion for any job I've ever had, and most of them I actively hate. So it's difficult to say or look at those things as my occupation since there's no investment in them.

So maybe we should ask, what's your dayjob??

Systems Administrator at an MSP
I don't make nearly enough money for what I do...

I am an NDT Inspector. I inspect heat exchangers at power plants using eddy current. I mostly work at nuclear plants, though we will also work at fossil plants and chemical plants.
-
Wow. Interesting!

Wow. Interesting!
It pays the bills, but there is a lot or travel. And it's seasonal. Nuclear plants try to schedule their refueling outages in spring and fall, because that's when demand for electricity is at its lowest. That does mean I have more free time during the summer and winter, so that's a bonus.

For the last seven years, I’ve worked at a store selling contractor grade tools for various trades including construction, wood working, masonry, and metal working.
I didn’t have any interest in these things when I got the job, but I’ve taken more of a personal interest in it as the years have gone by, mainly through a DIY perspective.
But I agree with others, a job doesn’t define who we are as living breathing persons, unless you’re lucky enough to find a job that reflects your calling or passion. My job doesn’t reflect my love of music, books, computers, or vintage fantasy art. You couldn’t tell that I love German Hefeweizen beer but loathe IPAs, that I did everything I could to help take care of my mother in her final years, what my fears, hopes, and dreams are.... none of these things are reflected in my day job.
When I’m here at my job, I’m just another face behind the counter - Just trying to get by like everyone else. Like TP4 says, it’s a means to make money. You make do with what you got. At least I find interest in everything I do, even if I’m not doing what I’d rather be doing. 😉

I work part time in a fish and chips shop. It's a thrilling mentally challenging job, in which I have two vital primary roles (listed in order of diminishing importance):
(1) Cover myself from head to toe in grease
(2) Occasionally fry fish and chips as a secondary side effect of (1)

For what is worth, your job post put a smile on my face.
I’ve lived all my life in rural Iowa, but my mother was born in England and lived there until she was 12 before immigrating to Australia in the early ‘50s. (And then coming to the US in the mid ‘70s)
Growing up, we would have a Friday night movie night where instead of snacking on popcorn, she would make “fish ‘n chips” as she remembered it as a little girl.
She would cook it and wrap it up into a kind of cone of wax paper and newspaper - and I can’t tell you how fond my memories are and the joy I experienced in finding the hidden bits left within the newspaper folds nearing the end of the meal.
No doubt your job feels unsatisfying and impersonal, but I just thought that I’d share the fact that it’s tradition lead to one of my favorite memories of my mother. It seems unlikely I’ll ever make it over to England, but if I ever did - visiting a Fish ‘n Chips shop is actually high on my list of things to do. 🙂

Will they come pre-calibrated ? If not, how much for factory calibration firmware pre-load.. Require delta Jump characteristics accurate within 0.1 meters.

Yeah sure just don't feed them onion weed, it ruins the calibration.

I'm sure that was the case. Wouldn't want any of the sexy models stealing valuable supplies.

I work as a web programmer. Not for long.
Oh why's that?
-
I'm a Software Engineer, mostly working on the Salesforce platform but enough custom stuff using JS that I don't feel 100% tied to Salesforce right now. I also lead a team of engineers and do some system architecture work as well.
-
Full time student, working part time at a shoe store. Definitely not enough money for this hobby haha

I work in a small IT department for a large manufacturing company (of window coverings + blinds). Besides help desk stuff for our customer service team, accounting teams and our factory floor terminals, I also do PHP programming for our in-house order tracking, reporting and RFID system, as well as hardware repair for anything with electricity; mostly small Zebra label printers (we have about 400 of them) and wireless scanners. I also just finished installing ethernet wall ports in the new offices that we built inside our warehouse, and moved all the computers for 30 customer service reps.

That sounds identical to my previous position minus the PHP programming. I also did some networking with Cisco gear, and programming with VB.Net, and PowerShell. Wait 400 Zebras? Damn I dealt with maybe 5 large ones and that was enough...great printers but I dealt with user error and users abusing them.

I work as a web designer
I didn't know spiders could use the internet.
-
I used to work for my government in the IT we have to support 30.000 workers and 1200-1600 programs. Let me say its a good experience but not something i could do my whole life. Going back to school. I guess the customs and a new car have to wait :).

How else would they communicate if it weren't for the world wide web, websites, webcasts and webcams!

Yeah I bet that kept you busy. The small IT team I used to work with supported < 500 employees. I miss certain aspects of that previous role but decided to move on to other things.

Web dev for a tax firm cuz that's the only job offers i got with my comp sci degree. Only been doing it over a year but I feel like I got the hang of things. I end up helping my senior dev more than she helps me -.-

Still a Sys Admin at an MSP, but if I get my VCP cert by the end of the quarter i'll get a 5k a year raise.
I just bought the book for vSphere 6.7 so I'm hoping enough reading of that will prepare me for the test by the end of the quarter, on top of my current knowledge of vSphere / VCSA / ESXi 6.7 / etc.
I upgraded our entire office and data center infrastructure with just the knowledge I gained by having my own VMWare environment, so reading the book should get me prepared for the test enough to take it and pass by the end of September...

Fun to see Pantones use and influence in a hobby like this. Helps me feel more connected to my work.

You would be surprised haha. The Xrite office(where I work) has a lot of equipment etc because this is our primary production facility, but color correction is not the primary concern of most employees hahaha.
I run flux on mine and get some weird looks and negative reactions every couple of days

The master of color, overlord of accuracy ?

What was that set recently that there was a big huff about color inaccuracy on final caps vs. renders. And the whole “I had someone come and calibrate my monitor” bit.
