Do you like colored-text Ctrl, Alt, or Shift keys? I was thinking about getting a set for myself.
-
IBM used to make these -

I'd get Unicomp to make ones, except the red would clash with my Esc key =P
I'm tempted to get an orange "Meta" key to go in place of Caps lock on my M13.

Perhaps a red escape key in the way of colored keycaps, any more is too gaudy. As for colored text, I like it. I like the green alt keys and brown text on the Model M, and I would like to see similar touches on my Realforce.

I'm not too keen on them. They made sense back when people used Word Perfect which made extensive use of the function keys combined with modifiers. But they look gaudy as a standalone expression of style.

Hmm. The black label there is fighting for attention with the coloured escape key.
Grey labels don't clash so much...

If you are looking for an orange key the shape of caps lock, Unicomp doesn't have it any more. I asked about it when I was placing my order last week and had to switch to blue. (I don't remember what other colors they have for this cap shape.)

I know that on my older Model M keyboards, the Alt keys have the word "Alt" printed in green instead of black, but the Shift and Ctrl keys are not special in that way.
I approve of making the shift keys distinctive from the other keys on the keyboard. If the keys are not all the same color, then the color scheme should correspond to key function to help avoid confusion.

ANYTHING other than a Red ESC key is gay.
Hmm, this poses a dilemma for me. Does the Geekhack Esc key on my board make me a closet ***? Will I have to switch back to grey to display pride?
