I was wondering if you can buy clear housing, mainly the top half.
-
Yep, not sure where to get them internationally but if you live in the US mechanicalkeyboards.com sells Gateron clear tops by themselves. https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1650 (https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1650) Although I would do some searching around before buying through them as mkb.com's pricing is pretty high for just tops. For what they're charging you could buy full Gateron switches from NovelKeys & harvest the top housings.

The labor to pry open 90 switch tops, I'd just buy the switch tops.

I've never understood the reasoning for wanting clear tops.

Maybe more even light refraction. But over all.. Mehhh.....
If anything, You'd buy Silver bottoms + Clear tops. Clear tops alone, Meh..

Oh, I thought that light dispersion from LEDS wouldn't be very good on black housing.
-
Ok, black housing can work if it has the hole at the bottom, but I am assuming that most black housing won't have it.
First with Kailh housing. It has white bottom with clear housing and hole at the bottom.
Second one is Razer Green, no hole at the bottom and completely black case.
