It seems like I read somewhere awhile ago that there was a way to convert the blacks to reds by swapping springs out from blues.. or browns?
Either way, I've searched all over and can't find the post..
I have a tenkeyless with blacks and the blacks are way too heavy..

I hope your cherry black board is not plate mounted..
Oh wait it is, you said it's in a filco.
It's no small feat to do a spring swap on a filco board, because they are plate mounted and the cherry switch cannot be popped off easily. Plate mounted cherry boards are pretty easy to swap, not plate mounted ones like the filco. :(
My understanding is that if you wish to undertake this feat, you need to open the board, desolder the switches from the plate, pop them out, open them up, place springs from a cherry brown or cherry blue board, then close the switch, then resolder the switch into the original position. Repeat x 104 times.

I have plenty of Cherry brown boards to trade should someone think of destroying a Cherry blue board for a red simulation.

Anyone know if digikey (or similar) sells actual red cherry switches?

I think they had Cherry MX Red Linear switches in stock a year or two ago. Mouser has Cherry MX Brown switches MX1A-G1DW it's going to be cheaper to harvest from a used Cherry keyboard off eBay.

I think they had Cherry MX Red Linear switches in stock a year or two ago. Mouser has Cherry MX Brown switches MX1A-G1DW (PCB Mount) but it list them as 55 cN but it's not the Cherry MX Clear number. it's going to be cheaper to harvest from a used Cherry keyboard off eBay anyways.

I am pretty sure I remember digikey carrying them a year or two ago. it's going to cost you $100 for 100+ Cherry MX Brown switches. it's cheaper to harvest from a used Cherry keyboard.

Awesome.. Thanks Ripster, you rock!
I read that you were considering swapping springs only in WASD.. what was your thoughts on this? I'm not going to be using this particular board for much typing..

It would be a lot easier to sell the Cherry Black if you find it too heavy even for gaming and get a N-key cheap Cherry Brown keyboard like a MX8100. Then you could use it for typing AND gaming.
Fully N-key. (http://geekhack.org/showpost.php?p=59567&postcount=27)
Not sure why the OCN guys aren't all over this keyboard. Bought a whole bunch of 2-key ABS M1s instead just because it looked like a good deal.
OCN Sheep!!!

Hahaha... Then what am I going to do with my 104 key with blues?

it's difficult to convince someone under 18 years old who has used rubber domes and laser mice all their life to purchase a mechanical keyboard, cosmetics seems to be the biggest issue.
