What makes you a good person?
1/ Having bad thoughs, thinking of doing things that could harm people, but not acting on them because you know it's not OK
2/ Not having them.
Like if your brain keeps on producing those evil plans that you're never gonna apply, is that your fault?
And on a larger extent, are we somewhat in control of how our brain thinks ? Aren't we just in charge of filtering stuffs that come out of it ?

Thoughts don't make you a bad person, actions do. In fact, thoughts don't make you anything at all. A coma patient has thoughts.
-
That may be too broad a question, even with the attributes you've included.

That defines very little.

I was reading it as azhdar feels some inherent guilt over internal thoughts he deems as evil or wrong, which no one should do because everyone has those thoughts but few act upon them. I don't think the concept of evil can be defined either, it's too subjective.
But this concept reminds me of how people with religious backgrounds feel guilty after sex and masturbation, something I myself have never experienced and struggle to understand. But ultimately I believe thoughts of guilt for things you've never done, or things that are natural, stem almost completely from environment.

If you have evil thoughts it means Satan has control over you.

I agree the Bible is not fully applicable to all modern behaviors, but its general truths remain accurate.
Let's look at your specific example.
Secs and Self-Gratification.
The function of religion is as a general guideline for human conduct, written in terms that the Period-People could understand, 1300 BC.
The bible specifically says, procreation is good, that REQUIRES secs. So secs is certainly not bad.
HOWEVER, something happened, rains were good, we produced lots of food, secs became recreational, and eventually on its own, a commodity for trade.
THIS is the outcome the Bible attempts to chastise.
Anytime you take a primary animal function, Optimize its pleasure response, Removing it from its original Purpose, That is the game breaking moment.
Prostitution is not a problem, if every prostitute had a baby every 32x she sold her services, and they married the biological John which sired that child. In fact, that's exactly the lawful way to do it.
However, as it is generally practiced, no child is produced, all the pleasure, none of the consequences. This is the thwarting of a fundamental life process, waste of a perfectly good cloning-vat, waste of a perfectly good mother/caretaker. Where will replacement labor come from. who will tend the fields of tomorrow.
Given that now we MAY be close to the technology to replace the majority of human labor.. In this context, PERHAPS we're at the point where secs could be recreational with little consequence. But this was certainly not the case for the time period where the Bible had been most relevant.

I'm going to need to attach a heatsink to my head, if I have to think about this much more :). Great question....that'll take a smarter person than me to figure it out.
I guess all I can see is that we're a bunch of barely evolved orangutans, clinging to a infinitesimal speck of dust in the middle of a void of uncertain size and shape. We've a fair idea of how the universe works, but not why it works this way (if the question even means anything).
In short: Given how complicated/chaotic/lawless the universe is, I don't think it's really possible there's a human being who has no bad thoughts. Being a good person is more about not acting on those thoughts, than not having them.
I mean, I once had the most cruel and inhuman thought: I considered giving an MX blue keyboard to a friend. But then I realized it was wrong to commit murder (of his ears and fingers) :)

I think a better question, which I have often considered, is this:
Does being a good person mean simply abstaining from doing bad things or actively doing good things? For example, are you good because you leave everyone alone instead of robbing/killing/defiling him, or are you good because you go out everyday and give starving/sick people food and medicine?
This question makes me think there should probably be three categories when describing a person's character: bad, neutral, good.

That or resolve the entire spectrum w/ determinism. Every one is as they should be, the only rules are that of physics, and should the universe see fit that humanity dissolves itself, So be it.

The reality is 99.9% of people are self-serving and selfish. Even when helping others through charity work or donations the actual end goal for those individuals is stroking their own ego, fishing for praise/building a reputation, and atoning for perceived sins of their past. Very few humans are actually selfless. I've never met one in my lifetime.
Human beings are the most selfish creatures on the planet, that is just how we are wired. I think that trait is just a runoff of intelligence.
