I held off on this second drop, I'm just a bit weary with Massdrop sometimes taking shortcuts... plus they still haven't shipped the first GB so no reviews from non-sponsors/professionals. Would love to know if anyone here went in on either of their GB and is planning to review them, preferably with comparisons to originals.

If they end up using short cuts and etc then we can actually use as they have claimed to use the original Panda housing or at least a identical version of it.

Right, I know what they've claimed, I was just hesitant to pay $100 for switches that have only a single review (that I know of) from Top Clack, which is why I was curious if anyone here went in on either drop.

I went in on R1 when they were actually cheaper than in R2. I have minimal experience with Pandas but I can save this room to give you my opinion on MD Holy Pandas. They'll be here in late June according to a delay email we got.

I wish this would happen.
Chryos should review it.

You know I think Chyro would be genuinely surprised with Holy Pandas but at the same time we all know how he feels about even large bumped modern (MX) style tactiles. I'm guessing that he'll dislike the round feeling of the bump and might call them scratchy. This is only precedented by his reviews but he might surprise us and add to that small list of modern switches he can enjoy.

Dr.Hades, you received an email from Massdrop about a delay with R1 Holy Panda's? I didn't..

Yeah I got one about last week I want to say. They said "they were finishing production but it's taking longer than expected" and then gave the time frame of late June. Either way I can wait because my build is coming in very separate time frames rn

It was absolute disaster. They overlubed almost all HP switches in factory.
I don't know what lube they used but it doesn't look like Tribosys at all.
Also I think HPs are not much better than V2 Zealios and HPs are much more wobbly.
I should not have bothered.

They are Holy Pandas from the original molds & you really can tell no difference between these (cleaned of factory lube) & the OG HPs, but MD still managed to screw the pooch with these. Terrible factory lubing that basically renders the switches unuseable out of the box. IME some have ridiculous amounts of lube in them, then other seem to not have been lubed at all!? I really feel sorry for those who ordered these & threw them straight into a hotswap board.
Although after they are cleaned of the factory lube & properly lubed with a quality product they're the real deal. I'm typing on them right now & while I don't have board full of OG HPs to do a true side by side comparison I do have a board built with Satanic Pandas (Holy Red Pandas) to compare it with. They both feel great & give huge tactility using Halo stems, but the MD HPs seem to have a bit more bite to them & remind me more of the OG HPs I got to try at meetups than the Satanic Pandas do. So I'd say it really comes down to how much work you want to do just to have the Invyr housings. With MD's pricing on the HPs now, it'll cost you right around the same amount to buy a batch of YOK or GSUS & Halo switches to make your own. Also don't forget about V2 Zealios, sure they don't have the signature HP bottom out sound & the bump feels a little different, but they have even larger tactility & are super smooth compared to any HP or HP variant.
