Hardware Canucks is a Youtube channel that reviews new equipment, especially gaming-related.
They usually review gaming tower-cases, gaming mice, other peripherals, and sometimes even gaming keyboards. Here's an example - the 'top 3 TKL for gaming and office:'
This month, however, they previewed 'enthusiast' keyboards at Computex 2019.
They highlighted some interesting keyboards by Ducky, Varmilo, and Leopold. They noted the high quality of all three manufacturers, particularly Leopold, and the surprisingly low price point.
With Leopold, for example, the work on the PCB was very fine and intricate, beyond what is typically seen. And Varmilo's keycaps are top-tier quality, with lasting dye-subs. And yet Varmilo charges just a little more than a typical 'gaming' keyboard for an excellent factory custom, and Leopold costs even less despite superior build quality.
It is good to see 'gaming' oriented channels starting to recognize why the 'enthusiast' market has taken off, I suppose.

Once upon a time, there was a air breathing life form that was typing on membrane keyboards. Her name was Bitbat. She was a fast typer and could type at the time 90 wpm.
She saw Typing Test videos on Youtube and high scores online and noticed that people like Sifo and others were getting high scores... but not the type of keyboards she was typing on.
After a couple of month's research on the internet, she discovered the wonderful world of mechanical keyboards. She realised that it could be possible to modify a keyboard to suit your needs, whether it would be the thumb cluster or to make the switches very heavy.
Now, i'm a membrane hater. However, my mechanical keyboard doesn't have much support for older devices so i need to type on membrane.
That's how i got into Geekhack and mechanical Keyboards.
Great feeling btw

this is really cool to see, especially after the way that LTT handled the "build your own custom keyboards" video a while ago. Hopefully mainstream tech outlets do a better job in the future
