This is the ESC key pulled off. There is a notch in the key that mates into the slider tube. Another notch 180 degrees has a stop on it to bottom out on. Maybe this is part of why it feels better? There is a bottom-out stop on the slider?

Uses no screws to hold things together. There are 5 of these tabs on the backside of the keyboard. They break REALLY easily, you can see I broke this one.

The keys are attached to the back of the keyboard with plastic tabs as well. These also break easily, and some are hiding in between keys. Some tabs have to be pressed LEFT to release, others have to be pressed RIGHT. They seem to alternate, perhaps it keeps things locked in place better. Makes taking it apart less fun, though.

After releasing all of the tabs, the membrane underneath is exposed. The top white plastic layer holding the keys comes off.

The contacts are on a single sheet, folded over on top of itself. There is a single layer of plastic that sits between the two layers. The LEDs are lit by contact points directly on the plastic sheet. When you snap the keyboard together, the LED leads (secured to the top of the keyboard) simply touch the points they need to on the sheet. Simple and it works.

Do my pics show up? Can't see them here, but there are placeholders there. I used IMG tags, but don't know if Picasa allows me to direct link like that.
If that doesn't work, you can see the pictures here (http://picasaweb.google.com/handyrandyrc/KeyTronic#).
