I'm not a big fan of John Oliver's comedy style. He uses analogies far too much. An absurd analogy isn't a punchline, you are just getting laughs due to the unexpected comparison and not an actual joke. He'll say something like, "The reformed GOP tax bill is like a hamster trying to fight a banana with a boomerang!" That's not a ****ing joke John, it's just nonsense.

He's a decent interviewer though.

I wonder if, if there hadn't been comedy to take the edge off things, most of the subjects would be too depressing to hear about.

I'm just torn about possibly all the TV-deals. !!
