Title: Old ThinkPad hard drive removal
Post by: EverythingIBM on Fri, 28 May 2010, 14:41:43
So, I'll be getting an old thinkpad from a teacher in my school (yep, although this is probably the last drop of IBM equipment to be taken). However, in order to take it, I have to remove the hard drive for it due to personal files being on there. Do all thinkpads have hard drive caddy things where you simply unscrew a side piece (like on the T60p) and slide it out, or, are some like macs where you have to unscrew the whole damn thing?

This one is probably a windows 98 thinkpad, or 2000. I'm only guessing. It could be a T42 but I doubt it. The older the better!

Usually the drive will be under a removable panel. So you may need a screwdriver, but it's a quick job.

Yeah I got the screwdriver part covered. Brought it to school. My biology teacher stopped halfway through teaching to ask me why I brought it.

I recommend burning it and buying a Dell Inspiron. They come in a wide range of colours designed to match your home.

Yes, but they don't come in the only color that matters.

I think your biology teacher is worried you might start getting younger as you keep buying older and older technology.

BUYING? I don't think I've bought a single piece of my old technology. All of the old computers I got were all free. My DOS games I did buy: but they were "modern" back then.

And I'm not even going to ask where you spend your time finding all of those pictures. Unless that's your grandpa and aunt jemima during your christmas reunion.

Even as a child, there were signs that Michael Jackson was going to be different to others.

I thought Aunt Jemima was an invented character like Uncle Ben or Mr. Quaker.

Are you talking about what I think you're talking about?

If you're thinking 'been the victim of malicious joke' yes. If you're thinking 'rude/sexually orientated' then no.

I define Aunt Jemima as a sort of euphemism for anything which is unpleasant but not necessarily nasty. More 'thorn in the back' rather than 'knife in the back' etcetera.

Mmm, oatmeal.
Too bad it makes me more hungry at lunch time, than if I were to eat nothing at all...

Aunt Jemima...pft get yourself some real maple syrup.

Yeah I do get real maple syrup, I live in canada after all; where maple syrup flows from the taps of every house.

Aunt Jemima is just artificial colour and flavour. Sick stuff really. PepsiCo actually owns the Aunt Jemima brand.
