I'm not posting this because it's a deal but simply because it's interesting. Where do people come up with these prices?
Non-clicky Industrial XT Model F (http://cgi.ebay.com/SPECIAL-VINTAGE-IBM-KEYBOARD-EARLY-IBM-BUSINESS-/250640847465). There's an industrial XT F in the wiki, but this is non-clicky so it might be unique.
Seller raised the BIN price from $500 to $700 after I asked for pictures. Nice. He also types everything, including his own name, in CAPS with no sentence breaks. That's entertaining.
-
It's missing two feet pads. Bad.
I wouldn't pay that much "just for a different colour". That's just as bad today with consoles, nintendo comes out with a black wii "OOHHH I GOT TO BUY ONE BECAUSE IT REFLECTS A DIFFERENT WAVE LENGTH OF LIGHT!!"
-
I wouldn't pay that much "just for a different colour".
I wouldn't mind having an AT Model F in the industrial color scheme, simply because it's different.
-
I saw it but the question is what is it? It's not the Industrial F XT, because they didn't make rubber domes in that time. Also rubber feet instead of cork.
I thought maybe the industrial models would have rubber instead of cork. Maybe I was wrong then.
Cork is for the cool guys.

Ask him to pull the key.
It looks like low-profile keys, so I think it is non-clicky. Edit: This mght be an optical illusion, I can't really tell.
I may have insulted him...so he might not respond to my questions ;)
-
Looks like a keyboard that should be attached to old 1980’s weapons console to be used with ICBMs or guided artillery against Soviet armored divisions.
Now that's a proper description!
-
I added two more pictures to the first post.
-
Hooray for clueless listings. He probably even has a reserve set.
Webwit hit the jackpot though. It's exactly the same, meaning it has Oak switch internals. Most likely a rubber dome, maybe even a refurb. Hardly vintage.
-
Well let's see if he manages to turn his $500+ fantasy into reality, otherwise see you at the relisting ;)
There might be a flemish keyboard collector who will buy it at $700 just to spite webwit.
-
Eh folks, remember this? (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=9494)
-
The Oak Switch Internals are interesting, I didn't notice it before in the clickykeyboards listing. I wonder why it is left unmentioned at clicky's, and if in fact a buckling spring Industrial F XT does exist. Maybe only these Oaks, whatever they are.
Note how he lists no switch details for the Oak switch systems one. (http://www.clickykeyboards.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/11066/subcatid/0/id/461779) It is a linear keyboard according to earliear research by Brian, ch_123 posted it (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=9494).
Compare it with the other industrial he shows: it has the old XT label and is listed as "VERY clicky ". (http://www.clickykeyboards.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/11066/subcatid/0/id/171727). The hunt is still on.
EDIT: Durn, ch_123 beat me to it.

If it was a no-reserve auction, it would be good to get it, get an XT Model F, and then sell the resulting hybrid as a NIB Industrial Model F =P

Especially after he's stalking you.

I've experienced (and continue to experience) substantially worse from one particularly friendly seller.

I don't think he's on to me here. I emailed my snappy comments to him and he's sent three confounding responses.
-
US MAIL PACKAGE TO AUSTRALIAN WILL BE $65 THAT IS INCLUDING $750 OF INSURANCE
Sorrry nowsharing - its MINE ALL MINE
-
The more I look at Fleabay, the more apt I am to just buying "new" the tenkeyless I need.

Did one of the Aussies here ask him? Because, the person asking wrote in all caps like the seller himself... for a second I thought he just added the comment himself with a dummy account using the "buy it now phrase" so people would read the comment and be more inclined to "buy it now".

You made a new friend. CONGRATS!!!!1!
-
YES, IT WAS ME, I ASKED FOR MY OWN AMUSEMENT.
it worked
-
STILL ZERO BIDS I BET RIPSTER IS GONNA SNIPE THIS ONE!!1!!!
linear model f xt layout what's not to love?
Couldn't you take the guts of a normal model F XT and place it in the "industrial" casing?
-
The trick is to find a suitable industrial casing. Most ones you find are for a regular model M.

I'm referring to the one being listed in the ebay auction...
-
That linear keyboard with an ugly black label and a pricetag of $500? There are cheaper ways to cheat...
-
$500 will find you someone who knows their way around a spray paint can, so to speak...
-
Yeah, in case this keyboard gets relisted later for a sane price: it sucks. Not worth bidding on! :becky:
Might work well if the case can take my Wheelwriter boards.
-
yeah webzy has it all posted up on kbdmania...
-
Webwit actually has a different Industrial F. Compare the feet of the one on his site and the thread.
-

Does he get a pleasure in showing off his keyboards?
That thing isn't any good, it's just a horrible rubber dome.
-
Webwit did not buy that keyboard. It's hard to notice the difference, but compare the feet on Webwit's keyboard and the one from the eBay listing. They're different.
-
The odds that he just happened to find an identical keyboard refurbished by the same company are quite slim compared with the possibility that one of the feet fell off in transit...
-
But the weird thing is there's a foot there where there wasn't on the Ebay keyboard. I was thinking the same thing as you, but I double checked.
