IPS every time, there is so much less eye strain with the contrast
yes it costs more and they response rate is worse, but its just so much better for your eyes long-term

Pixel density and the type of reflectivity to monitor surfaces have more of an effect on eye strain for me than display type. I had less eye strain on my TN panel display than my IPS due to the lower pixel density.

I just got 1440p IPS and I'm not planning on replacing these for at least a few years, barring any problems. I have a LOOOOOT of disdain for monitor manufacturers. I suspect they're using the John Delorean manufacturing method*, every monitor is secretly used to import cocaine, they snort it, you pay for it. It's the only thing that explains the pricing.
*No, he didn't actually import cocaine, however he was far from innocent. Go watch the documentary "Framing John DeLorean".

I don't even know what monitor i use.... just the integrated one on my laptop.

got that tcl 5 series at home, work monitor is lg ultrafine 5k, ips but pretty good actually. i've been happy with it. i also have the 2019 i9 mbp at work so i'm decked out
