Title: Clean Ceiling fans.
Post by: tp4tissue on Mon, 05 August 2019, 05:57:02
Noticed some extra wobble, it's only been a year since last time Tp4 cleaned above the fan blade.

After cleaning, doesn't wobble any more..

Seems like it doesn't take much to throw fans off balance.

Could be dangerous..

A year is a pretty long time to go without cleaning the blades. I don't clean mine but that is because the sun provides me with electricty which i then funnel into an AC system.

But I clean the AC filters every 2 weeks. I would imagine blades should be done at least every 3 months.

Hasn't been turned on in a year. i suspect that is too much buildup.

Oh **** yeah, those things get filth. When I was younger I didn't clean them for the entire rental. This was like 3 years, you could see the paint peeling off the fan blades when I eventually cleaned them. I assume because of friction, moisture and science or some ****.

Or maybe they were just **** fans, who knows.

They make the bulk of ceiling fans out of light flimsy wood nowadays, (on purpose), so they don't collect too much kinetic energy, and break apart more easily on impact.

But of course, if you want decapitator they still make metal and thick decorative fans for those who like danger

Very good tips. It's so cool that solar energy helps to power your AC. I've been meaning to do the same for a while now, but haven't really gotten to it. I'm going to take it more seriously now as well as ensure that I clean my AC filters biweekly.

I use an old 1980's-era hand-held vinyl record cleaner thing that I inherited from my Paw Paw. It's effective but the globs of dust will fall in your face or on the floor if there's a lot of buildup.

I can see that you’re only interested in the exceptionally rare.

Fecal matter on the fan blades is definitely not a good idea, and should be cleaned off immediately!

This was about 7 years ago. I am strictly a windows and AC person now.
