One tip: Don't get a fedora or trilby

I don't wear hats, my hair is ****ing incredible. My one good physical feature.

Don't currently own any hats.. Need one to keep sun outta eye..

Jus' trying not to look silly.

Find it daunting, because can not apply performance/price ratio to hats.

If it's to keep the sun out of your eyes go with a Sahara/Bucket hat. Classic look, tons of styles to choose from.
Sahara Slouch hat is a good choice.

Or just get a baseball cap, azhdar is right Red Sox is the best team.

Get a Stetson. The kind a rancher would wear. Can't go wrong.

I hate hats, but when I do wear one it is to protect my head from the natural elements.

Summer sun and rain: a straw hat with brim all around, usually Panama style but bucket style will do if I am swimming or something

Winter wind and rain: a felt hat with brim all around, center or teardrop dent

Bitter cold: a heavy wool toboggan!

It depends on what hat you're looking for.

If you want a virtual hat you can download one as a free obj.

If you want a hat that you can wear in an online game, then there is a free one called "baseball cap".

If you want a real life hat, then there are "basics" stores where you can buy fishing ones.

You can also buy hats from your local EBgames or Thinkgeek store , also Hot Topic or Spencers.

Then, once you've found your hat.. pay.

I wear those hats that some old person would be wearing..

Fedoras are for neckbeards and Carmen Sandiego

fisherman beanie is my pick for hipster head coverage. for hats most of mine are athletic so the fit is mostly universal.

idk about all this anti-fedora ****; back in high school I wore a fedora to homecoming and my GF at the time couldn't keep her hands off me... or rather, my hands on her...

PS: I still own the fedora...

So back in high school i used to dump a ton of MDMA which resulted in similar situations.

Do I recomend drugs to kids these days? No

Did i just compare a hat to drugs... yes

LOL MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE NOT DONE SO MANY DRUGS AS A KID.

To be honest I don't recall wearing a hat at that stage, at the same time hats could have been involved.

All I know is, don't do fedora's kids.

Now I love the look of fedoras personally, but one has to be the right age and have the right kind of face to pull it off. I personally, do not, so I don’t wear them. Also Fedoras are a formal hat worn with suit and tie. The whole outfit needs to be put together in order to make it work. They get bad rep because they are worn by skinny high schoolers with T-shirts and sneakers. Go figure.

If I looked like the gentlemen in my profile picture, I would wear a fedora. But I don’t.

If you are under 40, don’t even consider it, unless you look much older then you are.

Trilbys are a complete no-go in my opinion. Just don’t. Not in this day and age anymore.

A hat like this made of fabric like cotton is quite universal and usually goes with a variety of outfits and works for young people.

It’s all about the fabric. A hat made of cotton and the-like will be much less formal then one made of wool. Although once again, best to wear it with something like khaki or suit pants (or more formal jeans) and a button-up tucked-in at the very least. Never with a suit. For that stick with more traditional wool hats.

this style of beanie is what I usually wear when I don't feel like doing my hair

I don't think anyone outside of this thread would take anyone seriously that wore a fedora, nope just nope. Maybe no one even in this thread. Unless you have "**** you" money or whatever, don't bother.

Just stick to contemporarily fashionable hats.

Ball caps work for everyone; they come in different styles. I am preferential to "Dad hats", due to the lower profile, generally less gaudy, if they do have a logo on them its typically small, and they look normal.

Depending on activity; I do like cycling hats because they're generally made of a lighter material, and sweat ruins normal cotton/tweed stuff for me. They can be pretty flambouyant though, so watch your douche meter.

Trucker hats are great, little more stylish; why I like them because of the breeze that can get through them. Though your noggin will bake a little more. It's like 50/50 sun protection/airflow.

If you have beautiful hair, you can wear a visor lol. I don't though, so that's a no go for me.

All other times I wear a beanie. Just plain ol' beanies. Wool is nice; the simpler the better. I generally don't go for any brimmed ones.

If you're just in it for the sun, why not a pair of polarized sunglasses?

That is exactly the kind that I prefer.

Only a moron and/or a fop wears a hat indoors, but if you are looking for protection from sun and rain the brim needs to go all around.

PS -   I am 67 years old
PPS - I own 2 hats almost identical to that one, and the old filthy worn-out specimen is what I wear when doing yard work.

If it’s sun protection you need get an Akubra (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akubra) widebrim.

If you need to stay well hydrated this would be the hat to get  :)

A long time ago, I made Gandalf's hat out of blue fabric. Stiffed it up with lots of wood glue. I did not have a wooden form for proper felting.
