Title: green alps vs linearized white alps
Post by: TeacherGeek on Tue, 20 August 2019, 18:50:33
Do people know what would be the difference between the two?

There might be  a difference at the little tactile bump at the bottom

All linear Alps switches have a very faint tactility when bottoming out.

The difference is weight basically. Linear alps are just Alps switches with out a tactile leave or a clicky one. Only difference would be spring weight if you compare Green alps to Linearized white Alps.

Also there is no damper on the oem green.

I was assuming OP was talking about linearizing clicky white ALPS, not damped whites. Although linearizing some damped whites may make for a decent silent linear switch. Shame those have the thinner housings.

With spring weight accounted for, linearised blacks from a NIB AT101W and the Taobao NOS SKCL yellows feel more or less the same to me, and both are better than the SKCL greens I have simply due to the fact that those aren't super clean.

There are people that would tell you that the older housings are better or that tall switchplates make all the difference, but I don't really buy it. Best to use whatever's available in the best condition, unless you want rare/old switches for the cool factor (which, to be fair, if you're using linear Alps over MX at this point isn't all that unlikely).

Use SPRiT's springs at your preferred weighting if you're OK with his business practices.
