Title: New Leopold keyboard (FC750R) with felt padding?
Post by: atomicus on Sat, 31 August 2019, 11:24:28
Does anyone know any more info about the board featured at the 6:12 point in the below video? The one with the felt padding? From the display, it seems to be a FC750R, but I don't think this particular version has released yet (although the FC750R does already)?

I'm fairly certain Leopold has been using dampening mats in their keyboards for a few years.

This may be a thicker or different material though.  Definitely having it in the keycaps (space bar) is new though.

You can ignore the Korean text and just scroll down to find where they brag about the sound absorbing pad.

Interesting... it's not 'in' the keycaps though, as it is in that video oddly. I wonder if the video shows a new revision as to yet be released? The purple legends on the keys don't seem to be available anywhere either, not that I can see.

They indeed have been using sound dampening mats for at least a few yrs., the 660M I got around 4 yrs. ago has a light felt pad that goes at the bottom of the case. Also the pad shown in the video looks to be no thicker or different from the one in my 660M. I think this is just a case of Hardwarecanucks not realizing that has been a feature of Leopold boards for many yrs. The felt under the spacebar is pretty intriguing as I have had decent success quieting down SA spacebars by filling them with craft foam. It would be nice to be able to buy foam or felt pads pre cut for the larger modifier keys!

Since letting go Varmilo as their chinese OEM and moving production back to Taiwan on the 2015 revisions.

The foam in the spacebar is on their OE units that —as the name indicates— are equipped with OEM profile keycaps. To the best of my knowledge, these are yet to be released.
