Title: Question about gateron durability
Post by: top123 on Sun, 08 September 2019, 00:54:52
Bougth Steelseries Apex 7 with red switches (QX2 - produced by Gateron) on a really great deal, it will arrive soon, that will be my first mech keyboard, what bother me is this:

- Never tryed mech before, will I be ok for typing on reds? I do 55% gaming and 45% typing on my pc.
- I read that Gateron switches becomes scratchier over time (around 1 year), that it has to do something with oxidation. Is that true?

Should I be worried?

Personally I can't stand typing on Cherry reds as they are too light but some people like them so that's for you to decide, maybe QX2 reds are heavier anyway...

I have R1 Zealio housings (made by Gateron) with Krytox lubed Gateron clear stems in a board built around March 2016, I don't game but as of today F6 which I practically never use feels no smoother than A which is used often.  I live in the UK so if it is oxidation due to humidity I wouldn't be affected.
