A lighter laptop would take ~ 2lbs off..

Don't have a laptop now, but my old one clocked in at over 16lbs in it's Samsonite laptop case.

A bit over 5 kilos. Anymore than that I have trouble getting through customs.

This is why I carry an 11.6in Macbook Air.
I try to keep it as light as possible since it's for work and it travels A LOT. I carry a bunch of extra stuff, thumb drives, external drive, cables, network testing gear and such.
