I love peanut butter

Interestingly, peanuts are closer to beans than nuts, despite the name, since they are legumes!

I don't understand how people come to hate peanut butter. The whipped kind is amazing for dipping fruit and sandwiches in, doesn't rip a slice of bread.

Pistachio ice cream tastes really fresh and is a must try.. that is if you don't have nut allergies.

Pistachio and mint chocolate chip are the two best ice cream flavors. No contest.

Meanwhile,  consider this,  many hog farms essentially raise hogs knee deep in their own _waste_.

If you took a lump of meat, dipped it in p00 for 5-6 months (time to reach slaughter weight)..   Rinse it off,    would you still eat it ?

That's the industry standard.

You can throw all the hippie cruelty crap out the window,  we'd still be left with this p00 problem.

That's not what the- Game Changers movie is about,  it's about Professional athletes   and body builders who are 100% Veggie,  and they're all attractive and run really fast, breaking personal and world records while eating all Veggie.

Whipped?  The best peanut butter has just one ingredient, you can whip it all you want but the poor peas have already been roasted and crushed so I don't think they'd notice.  How much *else* do you have to put in to get any kind of whipped effect, and what percentage is actually peanuts?

This thread also fails to mention oats - tasty convenient options are commonly sold as breakfast bars.

You can whip peanut butter?

I agree about pistachio ice cream!

BTW. Ever since I heard about Elvis Presley's obsession with peanut-butter/banana sandwiches, I have made that greasy treat too many times. I almost never ate peanut butter at all before.

Most peanut butter isn't based on peanuts, but on palm oil, which is cheaper. Peanut oil is more valuable, and sold as cooking oil.

If your peanut butter is thick, it's likely this "palm butter" instead. Real peanut butter is runny.

Hmm... maybe peanut butter is like pants and purses which silently fail to transcend the language barrier between English and whatever language it is Americans speak :P

Peanunt butter (https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/meridian-organic-crunchy-peanut-butter-60079215) - note the only ingredient is peanuts.  It's plenty thick...

I've also never heard of any peanut putter made with something other than peanuts,  It must be another specific product ..

This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about:

Alternatives include ones with (partially) hydrogenated peanut oil. These are also thicker.

So these guys don't have to list palm oil in the ingredients ?

The thick peanut butter that lists 100% peanuts as ingredients often hydrogenate the product to make it keep longer (although it's less healthy). If they add palm oil it should be listed on the ingredients (usually as "vegetable oil") - I can't imagine leaving it off would be legal even in the US. Other common substitutes are rapeseed and soybean oil.

Here's an example of what it would look like. Of course, it may be that it's less widespread in other countries. The main peanut butter brand here consists of 15% palm oil.

I don't know if our pb is hydrogenated, prolly is, but US general peanut prices might be too low to bother with the nickle saved on Palm oil.

I'll have to check the budget dollar store brand, haven't seen added oil in the mains. jiffy/ smucker/ skippy

It's the same as millions of americans joining a gym in january, 80% quit within 5 months.

Not hard,  but there's a steeper learning curve than most are prepared for.
