Title: This is awful..
Post by: tp4tissue on Sat, 12 October 2019, 19:29:16
My laptop SSD heatspreader doesn't seat flat on the controller chip, so it's NOT TOUCHING all the way..  It's stupid, cuz the  only 2 screws are on diagonal corners of the heat spreaders,  which leads to this outcome.

Sounds like you need some Arctic Alumina (http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_alumina_thermal_adhesive.htm), as long as you never want to take it off that is :))

I used that stuff to add heatsinks to a Raspberry Pi. I think the best solution for an uneven sufrace would be to use a thermal transfer pad such as this:

I used AA to add the backside cooler from a Thermaltake IFX-14 to the backplate of my s115x (yes, I'm using the front part too) not sure it does much in the way of cooling mounted like this but looks good.  Even with 4" of heatpipe to use as leverage it's not coming off!

You might be right though, depends if the heatsink is bent/uneven or it's just a badly designed mounting system...

Welp, your laptop is overheating.
