Title: Where can I get a mechanical in NY?
Post by: Dwhangkhui on Tue, 08 June 2010, 01:35:29
I've been lurking a while on these forums and decided I want MX blues.
My brother is going to NYC tomorrow.
I tried ordering from some online retailers but they don't accept international credit cards.
I want to know if there is a shop which he can visit and buy one of those keyboards.

Last I was there (Summer 2009?), J&R had the Das Keyboard and the Tactile Pro. At that time, they had recently reorganized their showroom such that their keyboards were NOT on display—you could not try them out.

There's a showroom somewhere in midtown showcasing the Optimus Prime, but I assume $1600 keyboards are out of your budget.

You can try Micro Center on Long Island.

They are carrying the SIIG Mechanical Keyboard and the Adesso MKB-135B, both for $99 each.  They might let you open one up to try it out.  The store in Virginia near me had keyboards on display but recently boxed them all up.  I really wanted to try out that SIIG and might take advantage of their very, very good return policy.  No good reason is needed to return an item at Micro Center as long as it's within the return period.
