Title: Found this Laser.
Post by: Straw on Thu, 17 October 2019, 14:18:30
I found this keyboard at work today. it is made by "Laser" whoever that is. the only info i have on it so far is that it has "SMK" switches. it seems to be in decent condition although i think the number 9 key may be malfunctioning and it is missing a keycap. also, the 5 pin connector is bent..... i took it all apart and started cleaning it. im going to see what i can do with it. im not much into the vintage scene but this is my first "mech" keyboard so im pretty excited even though ill probably never get to use it.

Pretty cool! Looks like 2nd gen SMK. I've never had the chance to try them - how do the switches feel?

EDIT: Just saw this link too:  https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=74367.0

Thank you for the link.  Great reference.
Being my first board i can't compare the switches to anything else but if i had to describe them i would say " light". I do type with heavy strokes so it could just be a side effect of that but i feel like barely touching them seems to be the way to actuate them without feeling like i am going to put my fingers through the board.

I was able to bend the connector back a little bit but i still dont think its going to fit into an adapter. I suppose i could buy a soldering iron and try installing a new cable but that id a bit out of my league, it may become a museum piece.

Those are really nice, I have had a few of them. Light clicky switches are a true joy.
