Title: My latest find . .
Post by: pakowhai on Thu, 10 June 2010, 14:10:03
posted a while back saying I wanted a 1390131, mini and black M13, but moaned about postage costs.  Decided to get realistic and signed up to a shipping service and resurrected my paypal account.

Lo and behold a few days later bought this 1390120 for $5.  Far from mint and no LEDs like the 1390131 but a good start.

A very happy newbie geekhacker!

Nice!

Jeez, looks like you shipped in a bunch of stuffed koalas in those crates.

Stuffed kiwis I hope. Koalas have no business being this this side of the ditch . . .
Sellers pic, so not sure what the crates hold.

Now I'm intrigued.  What means "shipping service" and does such a thing exist in the US?

a shipping service or "sky box" services is how i get my items from the USA.
basically as long as an item can be shipped to the states i have no worries ordering it, all i have to do is give the seller my shipping address, which is in the states {florida} then it gets shipped to me from there.

im guessing the OP's own should be similiar..

yup - exactly the same. Some sites also have a concierge service. Helps to get around US only credit card restrictions.

You New Zelanders are brutal. I never would have thought you'd stuff your countrymen into a crate in order to pad a $5 keyboard shipment.

Nice score, based on the tight coils in that cable and physical appearance I'd say it has not had much use!

What's it's birthday?

LOL

Easy choice - the safety and protection of the Model M is paramount. My fellow countrymen are expendable - 4 to a keyboard. . .  6 to be on the safe side

Thanks - hoping it goes okay. Item description said 1987. Waiting for delivery to check day/month.  Missing caps on F10/F11 and pause.

Anyone know where to go for replacement caps?

I think I have them, but from a slightly newer model so lighter printing.

Edit: yeah. See the 'shameless self promotion' link in my sig. I have those caps among others currently separate from keyboards. PM if interested.

Thanks Kishy

I'm not fussy re. printing. If you're happy to post to NZ, I'm interested.
