Title: Opinions on Dell Maglev Keyboards?
Post by: bear95 on Tue, 12 November 2019, 22:19:56
In the market for a new laptop and I'm pretty set on a dell xps. However, they use maglev keyboards which I wish I could try out before buying but unfortunately there are no offline stores in my country. Has anybody here tried out the keyboard and have thoughts/opinions?

Wait, Dell is still making these?

I have the 2018 XPS 15 2-in-1 which was the first (and for a while the only) laptop they made with the maglev keyboard.  It wasn't a big hit with most people...including myself.  They're pretty tactile but travel is quite short.  Not Apple short, but still shorter than I would like.  But more than that it just kind of feels off, like the keys are sticky or something.  Not literally but they're slow on the return I think.  Anyway I can't exactly recommend it.

But they paid Linus tech tips to say he likes the new XPS keyboard.  Linus wouldn't lie to us..!!
