Hello!
I took apart my model M to Bolt mod it but did not take note of the order of the membranes / rubber sheet, and was wondering what order everything goes back in?
So from top to bottom would it be like this?
- Plastic Barrels
- Springs
- Black Rubber mat
- Membrane 1
- Clear plastic sheet
- Membrane 2
- Metal plate
Thanks!

Pretty sure that the rubber mat rests against the metal plate.
Looking at the clear sheets, the one with holes is what creates the space preventing the contacts on the printed ones from touching unless pressed together, so make sure that the printed traces will make contact when pressed together.

So this is my main hangup right now, I'm still unsure if the rubber sheet goes touching the plate or the barrel assembly.
You're correct in saying that the clear sheet prevents the contacts from touching, but what difference would that make if the rubber mat was on top vs on bottom?
Thanks for the response though, open to other perspectives too. I literally cannot find any clear video of somebody taking apart the model m online so I have no point of reference.
Can someone please tear down a model m for me so we can solve this?! haha

I think I found my answer:

If nothing else, traces could short to the metal plate, as well as its function to cushion the pivot plate ("flippie") pressing down.
