Title: List of all switches that use magnets
Post by: kelvinhall05 on Tue, 19 November 2019, 08:47:52
Hi, I've been thinking of some designs for a new switch that afaik hasn't really been done before. I've just been making some basic designs in CAD and whatnot and even though I'm not certain it would work, I'm wondering if it is even an original design. Like I said, I haven't seen anything like this, and just in case it will work very well and hasn't been done I'd rather not say what it is lol. Is there a list of all the different switch types that use magnets in them? Don't really care how they use them, but I'm not using hall effect so I guess I'm only interested in stuff that isn't hall effect based.

I know this is a very weird post but tl;dr is there a list of switches, new and old, that use magnets in their operation?

I think that Ace-Pad hall effect is one of them. Add that to the list.

You could start here:

https://deskthority.net/wiki/Category:Reed_switches
https://deskthority.net/wiki/Category:Magnetic_valve_switches
and:

I'm sure there are more that are not listed. Ace-Pad is not listed.

Cool, thanks!

Very interesting...I guess my idea is original lol. Hopefully it'll work if I even do mock up a prototype switch.
