Title: Alps-compatible keyboards/PCBs with 98 keys or less?
Post by: kelvinhall05 on Sat, 23 November 2019, 08:37:47
I'm wondering if there are any kits or bare PCBs with 98 keys or less that are Alps-compatible. What about complete vintage/modern boards? Thanks!

There have been DIY 60% boards, the Plain60 is still available if you want a standard layout, if you want a weird one the Steezy60 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=103531.0) might be the next big thing.

Modern boards there are your contrymen Matias (http://www.matias.ca) whose switches/boards are Alps compatible.  They had (have?) issues with chattering switches but I haven't heard any in a while...  The Ergo Pro is my favourite off-the-shelf board, no learning curve whatsoever despite the split.  If you don't mind desoldering the odd failed switch definitely an option.
