Title: [IC] Mekanisk Type X
Post by: LeandreN on Thu, 28 November 2019, 13:43:04: Alongside the Klippe S, we will launch a tray mount.

This is a tray mount, It has 4 mounting points with silicone standoffs over so the PCB is isolated.

The typing experience is flexible, and I recommend foam to go with it(so the PCB has something to hit other than metal, if you type hard). I have personally used this case for a good while now, and it is the best tray mount experience I have personally had.

Pricing:
$219 for a full kit with the case, PC plate and a WT60-D PCB.

$165 for just case + PC plate.

This case provides a fantastic typing experience, with an affordable price. Additionally it provides a great typing sound.

17 mm starting height. Walls reach up to cover the gap between keycaps and switches. This also helps with sound.

All cases ship with an PC(polycarbonate) plate. There is also limited color options. This is to save costs. You can buy additional plates, in the store.

I'm quite sure it fits most standard 60% PCBs given it's a tray mount.

I have basically that configuration in my T60 (90a o-rings, thick shelf liner, plastic plate), it feels and sounds excellent. Brass also gets more comfortable to use in this kind of setup.

This is my experience with the prototypes also, you get more of a soft landing experience, even on brass.

The current configuration is what we plan to offer. Modifications might come in the future, however, we have other products if you want a firmer typing experience.

Looking forward to the sound test! haven't ordered mine yet, but will be on wed when my check hits. Question though, I recently got my Klippe-T & opted to use just the four side standoffs like the Type-X. Which turned out great for the most part & gave my ALPS64 build a much more flexier & refined feel compared to using all the standoffs. The only issue I ran into using it this way is that by having just either side attached the PCB/plate combo tends to bow up in the middle from the pressure on either side with nothing holding it down in the middle. Do you have any tips for reducing or eliminating this effect? I should say I did use a MKUltra foam between the case & PCB, but the fit perfectly lined up with the top of the standoffs. The best way to mitigate the bowing in the middle I found was to just snug the screws enough where some resistance is felt & watching the caps on the back to see how much the middle is bowing. This worked really well & let me get the PCB/plate installed where it does not look bowed up in the middle, but having the screws just slightly tightened worries me a little bit. Any input on this would be highly appreciated!
