Title: Stabilisers, lubing
Post by: phinix on Fri, 29 November 2019, 04:13:37
I was looking for plate stabilisers and bought some set.
When they cam in, I noticed that some caps do not work properly with them due to those.. don't know how to call it - "pillars" on top of them.
Are there any plate mount stabs that do not have those?

These bits:

Why can't they be like pcb mount ones?

Maybe trimming a bit won't hurt functionality?

When I have had this issue I have simply just cut them off. Works fine!

Thanks, I thought I could cut them off, same as we normally clip the sliders in them, but was worried that it will affect functionality.
On the other hand, when cut off, they would look same as pcb mount.

I guess reason for these pillars is to hold cap stems better, but as long as sliders are sitting inside them, it should be ok.
I'll try it and let you know:)

Thanks for responses guys :thumb:

I used it in my early days, it's a good grease for a cheap buck. But I would never go back from using Krytox 205g0 :D

205g0, is that a thick lube for stabs?

I already have Tribosys 3203, which I believe is thin lube for switches, right?
Is tribosys 3204 same as krytox 205g0, thick ones for stabs?

How did it go? What are you using to cut the pillars?

Krytox 205g0 is a pretty thick lube, I use it for all switches and for stabs.

3204 is pretty thick aswell, but 205g0 is thicker!

Nice, good luck!

Remember to not over do it, coat the wire evenly and then mount it on the pcb to test it for any rattle.
