Update

Order Shipped, Not a price mistake..

Western Digital 3rd Gen SN750 1TB + Heatsink for $99.99

This is only 10-15% slower than 970 Pro/ Evo Plus. @ HALF the price ...

Deal forums speculate it may be a price mistake, or maybe it's only the 500gb version. But the order form says 1TB, so you can get your money back if that's the case.

Done!

Tp4 can't guarantee you this will ship.  But it's a great deal if it does.

Please no Kill Tp4 if Tiger direct drops the ball

Tp4 also ordered the NON-heatsink version which is $30 more,  but IDK, does that double the chance of Tp4 getting at least 1 drive ?  Who knows..

That is neat. I've already got a 500 GB m.2 SSD that's a bit slower but still faster r/w than I need.

There are actually quite a few REALLY fast nvme drives for half the price, seems everyone's prices have been falling except Samsung.

The speed difference real world is nothing on anything with transfers over 2000, probably even 1500, this is doubly true on older hardware. Just stick to decent brands and ALWAYS check the transfer speeds.

Well, that really depends on how you're defining really fast.

Because of SLC caching, alot of drives SEEM fast, and will hit the same Benchmarks,  but its Sustained performance can be very different.

So, the next tier down from sn750 / 970evo/evoplus/pro,   is the SM2262EN drives, and they're ~60% as fast as the top tier,   they aren't 40% cheaper though.

This drive at this price is pretty much too good a price, and I think it's prolly not gonna ship..

Still, HOPE.....

Some news,  Amazon dumped their stock earlier for $130 (non heasinked version)  and Heatsinked for $150.

So.. that kind of means MAYBE this is not a price mistake.

OH BUH WAIT..

Still Orderable @ Amazon,  for the 1TB NON(heatsinked)  for $130..  STILL a super good deal, it's faster than 970 evo,  only slightly slower than 970 evo plus/ pro.

The lowest 970evo has been is $120  and this is faster than that for $130.

Either way, order now, and cancel later if Tiger ships.

LINK vvvv

Select amazon as seller $129.99 ships in 1-2 months, buh it should be before then  (https://www.amazon.com/Black-SN750-Internal-Gaming-Heatsink/dp/B07M64QXMN/ref=sxin_0_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-c243NTA%3D-ac_d_rm&keywords=sn750&pd_rd_i=B07MC2Q81D&pd_rd_r=102eaf56-abce-438b-bf57-7445a80c2ec4&pd_rd_w=eiz9R&pd_rd_wg=TB9Yn&pf_rd_p=e2f20af2-9651-42af-9a45-89425d5bae34&pf_rd_r=2YSG9QBKG5GGGQXHTT38&qid=1575151438&th=1)

Looks like Tiger is out of stock now.  I did get an order in earlier today.  We'll see.  I was in the market so (potentially) happy to have come across this thread.

It's a super good deal,  Even the amazon version 1TB + Heatsink for $150 is a good deal,

Imagine getting 85% of a 970evo plus for $150,   that's pretty much what this is, and you get the snazzy heatsink.

I read somewhere the heatsinked version uses a different firmware than the non-heatsinked version, so you guys prolly don't wanna remove the heatsink and shove it in a laptop without some testing first.

You can still order the NON heatsinked version for $130 @ amazon.  it's currently out of stock, but you can still place the order. select amazon.com as the seller on the right panel

That's still a good deal for this SSD. even with the +$30

3 SSDs each bigger than all the SSDs I've ever bought added together.  Faster too, and, I think, cheaper than my biggest.  And they will be used for ... storing movies?!

Each is probably transfers faster than all of your transfer rates combined as well.

Won't matter once bottlenecked by gigabit ethernet.
If you think the ssds are expensive, go look at 10gbe switch prices.

Probably, I've had 9 SSDs that I can think of but small ones are always slower :))  Can't say I've looked at the speed of these because I don't have a problem waiting a couple of seconds for my system to boot (Linux on SATA SSD) so there's no point getting a faster drive.  10GB/$ is not expensive though, it's peanuts.  I only got ~1.3GB/$ iirc and can remember the days of >£1/GB for a 7200rpm HDD.

I still think M.2 is overkill for storage even if you do have 10gbe, unless you plan to do a backup over the network.  Not even tp4 has enough monitors/computers to saturate it just watching stuff.

Deez SSD s00pa fast orange,  Tp4 highly recommend.

...and I remember when back in a days I paid £200 for 32GB Vertex OCZ SSD when they came out. We were all buying those, then run benchmarks, drooling on results :D
$100 per 1TB SSD finally came...

That's exactly what it's for, that and just large file copy in general.
Gigabit in most systems isn't really a choke point in most cases. Is it mission critical, not yet, but it's reached a point where it's almost within reach and would be beneficial.

Soon...  :thumb:

I'm sure they are, but the only time I transfer gigabytes of data is when swapping the music (wav files) on an SD card and they're on par with a spinny HDD at best :))

My next build will probably use m.2 but it should also use DDR5...

Expect around 3 years before it's mainstream and I don't expect massive gains.

If you can get a deal on something decent (6+ cores 8th gen Intel or 2nd gen Ryzen) in the next year or two, take it. It will last you a long time.

Tp4 only uses Sony Minidisc 4 mobile music. The only proper digital source.

m0ar Quad channel ram is gonna make a big difference. ddr 5 itself, it's probably more of a power saver thing.

I'm not looking, nothing wrong with my 4790HQ for browsing and scribbling on PCBs to help newbies which is paetty much all I do these days especially with no windows from January. Well, I would be doing that if there were more newbies with problems and I had a brain capable of troubleshooting...

If and when the RAM dies (have spare mobo and CPU) I'll be buying something AMD.

Loved my gold Sony Minidisc, one of the best before Net(?)MD compressed version.  Can you even buy discs now or do they live forever?
