Peugeot Grinders are solid. They used to be all metal and wood but (like all brands) they changed their construction a few years back and now even they got plastic parts on most of their models. For most people this won’t matter however. They should last you many, many years. Not cheap though, and very traditional (in design).
Zassenhaus has a very innovative all-ceramic grinding mechanism that can be sleeplessly adjusted from coarse to powder-fine. They are a bit more complex then Peugeot with their Steel-grinders but also more modern in design and theoretically more hygienic. I’ve been reading more complaints about Zassenhaus then Peugeot lately however. Peugeot has been keeping their grinders almost unchanged for many decades. Don't fix what ain't broken. If you really want the best then you are best-off looking for a vintage Peugeot grinder.

I have used this style for 30 years and love it. There is a knurled nut on the bottom that can be (must be) adjusted from time to time to get the grind right.

Unless you are running a coffee shop or otherwise need to regularly grind bigger amounts of coffee or spices, there is no need for electric grinders. Hand-held electric pepper/salt grinders are a gimmick. Also, in my experience the electric grinders tend to not be very well made and don’t last very long compared to high quality manual ones (obviously). The exception are stationary electric coffee grinders or industrial grade coffee/spice grinders, but I take that is not what you are looking for.

A high-quality grinding-mechanism should always be made of hardened steel or ceramic. I prefer steel over ceramic as ceramic can easily be chipped by little grains of sand or little stones. There are also mechanisms out of titanium, and while they are hygienic and do not corrode, they dull much more quickly then hardened steel. Also, titanium grinding against titanium often results in metal dust that can get into your food. Nothing dangerous but something to keep in mind. They are also still very expensive. Really more of a gimmick.

I have no experience with them. But I stick to what I said about them being a gimmick. Why would one want an electric pepper/salt grinder? What would an electric one do better than a manual one? The only electric grinders worth looking into are high-end stationary coffee grinders. And as I don’t drink coffee, I have no info on them.

I just found the first picture online. Mine is actually the legit Perfex model from France with the steel grinders.

That’s what I thought. I doubt they use pure titanium, but the alloy is not specified. However even the hardest titanium alloys are still significantly softer then hardened steel. Their main sellig point is the corrision resistance.
