Oddly enough though sometimes when I am typing with a tenkeyless board on my lap I hold the keyboard partially up with my left thumb. So maybe I am not one to talk about awkward I guess.

A keyboard of this type would need to preserve the finger positions for touch typists, which these do not do. That is why holding your tenkeyless is not awkward, even though it may sound so.

Hadn't seen this before, so pardon me for being a skeptic, but a few issues I see...
Piece of advice, Engadget has to fill the InterToobs with prototype content when it can't find anything real.
