Huh would ya look at that--a commercialized and modernized version of the datahand. That's been a long time coming...

I literally just learned of the Datahand today, I'm really curious about this actually.
I honestly doubt I'd get one and use it frequently, but I'd love to see one in action, this may give me that opportunity.

I don't think I'll be able to make two better wishes after this excellent one.
Thank you! I wish I would have known about these guys sooner, they were making them in the same state as me even.

Looking closely at the pic below from their site, it seems there is a large "keypad" for the pinky, 5 "keys" for ring, middle and index fingers (guessing index and middle get extra keys?) and 3 "keys" per thumb. Each "key" has 4 regions. Not quite a data hand sadly. (Also not sure where the 3d part comes in)

How would i make my own?
@jacethesaltsculptor might actually be interested in that.
Check out these two threads for reference: This one (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41422.0/), which eventually became this one (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=104041.0/).

You are right, that is interesting.
I had ran across them when I first joined the board, but honestly didn't understand what I was seeing. Now that I've seen a Datahand, it all makes sense.
Should I have the time and extra nosh, I'd like to help, it's a neat project.

Some serious thought must have gone into this. That data chair is seriously amazing, even if it is just a generic 90s chair with some sort of clamp system shoehorned onto the armrests. Looks to me like one of the few "ergo" keyboards that aren't little more than a gimmick. It is awesome to see that people may be resurrecting it. I can't imagine the learning curve is a smooth transition though, and switch to and from regular keyboards from then on might be ... interesting? Really cool idea though.

I noticed a strange thing when I read the plusses, if you put your hands in that thing, the keys are where they would be if you type from the home row on a QWERTY board, it's very interesting design, I feel like other than letters, learning the layers would be the bigger thing.
I wish I had a set. :( They even made them here in Arizona! I would have loved to support a local business, even though they went out years and years ago.

Hrrrrmrmmmm..
Tenting's a bit weak
If you had to use this @ high tenting, you'd probably need side hand rests to prop up the hand

That makes sense, that almost makes it sound like a modern custom keyboard then. I have that going on with TG3 in Wisconsin. There are so many dirt cheap surplus/refurb TG3 boards though, so I guess in a way it is a shame, but in another way they must be making bank anyway without my direct business.

What's their experimental time for someone who "already knows" how to type to get to 70wpm un-chorded.
