So I'm taking 17 credits of online classes. I've been warned that the lockdown browsers and the proctored tests do not allow function keys.
Recommend me something cheap in MX or whatever is the new hot **** that is a TKL. I used to love pcb mount MX browns if that helps.

My understanding is that the fn key on most keyboards is keyboard-side, and just affects what the keyboard itself outputs.
So if you press fn+7, the computer will just receive an F7 like from any other keyboard.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how most fn keys worked.

I didn't think the browser was that smart. You are prob right.
Still I have to take proctored tests on-campus and would like to back to being used to a standard layout.

I've used HHKB for exams with lockdown browsers before without any issues :thumb:

I wish I could use a keyboard IN GENERAL at school. People made fun of me for bringing a keyboard to school :(
Yes. A discrete keyboard, separate from a laptop. It wasn't even good either, it just had Cherry MX Reds. :( :(

Who's to say that you can't? Staff? Otherwise, if people make fun of you, give them the finger and move on.
