a friend offered me a never used das III for $55. given the controler issues, is it worth getting for another machine?
what exactly are the controler issues with it?
thanks

I'd say that's a good price. But I've never had problems with mine. I'm sure other people will disagree.
Problems can be serious (keyboard simply doesn't work on some USB ports) or barely detectable (keystrokes can appear out of order if you type really fast.)
Would be best to have an agreement that you can return it if you find the problems affect you. Test it on all the systems you are likely to use it on.

As i understand it, the controller issue was key transposition at high speeds... for instance, mashing asdf at the same time, they'd always come out in the same order, rather than the somewhat random order you'd expect, given human reaction time and such.
It was allegedly fixed in the later revisions of that model, though.

thanks guys. i'll try it out. i have read from metadot themselves, that there are systems it simply will not work at all on. appaerently it comes with a 1>2 usb splitter to try to give it more juice if it does not work. this was obviously not the greatest board but for $55 if it works it is worth it to me.

if you get a working one its pretty sweet actually. I have no problems with shiny piano black, I think it looks very cool.

guys, assuming i like the font on the adesso for $69 that has no known issues is the das a better deal still?
thanks

Not really.

i realised that. i have read nightmares about the das III. i do not want to risk that given how far i have to go to get it. i am assuming das will not replace it with a s at this point. das admitted the III had issues and gave people a hard time about replacing it i hear. i don't want to gamble on that. it would be stupid to go get it assuming i will have it "upgraded" for free. especially if they see a receipt for $55!
i mentioned i am going to offer $50 for the adesso. if i get it for that i will not be complaining i asure you!

Read my sig ;-)

lol. i noticed that today. i got a adesso for the same $55. so far so good. the das twisted like a piece of paper! i don't mean manually bending it either. it "bounces" as i typed on it!
metadot is not a hardware company. they are a marketing firm. they took a cheap oem board and slapped thier name on it is what i have read here.
i would have liked to try the das "s" but they did not have one.
