hi, i've been working on this for just a short time. I previously made a gingham clone shown below so i have experience but i was wondering could i shrink it down further to use a low cost standard case. the plan is to put the mcu in the hollow spacebar cavity on the top of the pcb. this avoids covering switch footprints like the luddite does. i'd like a suggestion for a through hole transistor or fet to switch the backlight. maybe this is a bad idea, but it has the potential to be very low cost.

Putting the MCU in the Spacebar is a shmart idea. I like it. :thumb: The transistor or mosfet is really not critical. Something common like a 2N3904.

I guess I'm on the right track then. I wasn't able to convince anyone else on discord though. This is the busiest time of year for me so I haven't been able to progress the design. I keep mulling it over, hoping I'll anticipate design issues.
