Hey guys!!! This is my first keyboard build and i am having a hard time deciding on a switch. My current keyboard is a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013. The kailh switches have a 50g Actuation Force.
What I am looking for is a as close to silent switch with a great feel. The switches I have been looking at as follows;
Keebwerk Tacit.
Gateron Silent Black Inks
Zeal Zilents
Open to other suggestions also.... :thumb:

Have you considered Cherry silent black switches?

I have looked at those too. Any reason you like those over the listed ones above?

Aliaz. Any weight.
-
silent black ink, lubed

Outemu Silent Sky 68g, from 1upkeyboards. You have to lube the springs, but they have decent tactility. Very quiet! :)

You could consider silent Topre 45g, very similar actuation force, good tactility, and quieter than MX keyboards. However, they're quite a bit more expensive.

Aliaz. Any weight.
Thanks for the info. I’m actually thinking this might be the way I go.

I really like this also. Just now looking at the Aliaz switches since they are a little bit cheaper and from the sound tests I can find they sound like they have the deeper click with the sound you do hear. Still considering these though. Thanks for your input.

Aliaz are not at all tactile. That is why I recommended Outemu Silent Sky. If you want silent linears, Cherry Silents are a good budget option, and if you don't care about price, Silent Alpacas are probably the best.

This is a summary of my personal experience with these switches:
Clears 3+ years. Zealios 3+ years. Browns 2- years (I did not like tem). Aliaz, 1 month, just testing my first board with them.

This is awesome thank you. Did you lube any of the switches?

No. I have not used lube at all.

Meh if i go silent i just use Cherry MX silent blacks with spring swap and lube. Feels good enough and definitively silent. In the begin they aren't that good after you break them i think they are pretty good switches.

What makes aliaz switches so good for you, Ideus?

They are really silent. They deepth TOC like a Topre with the appropiate case and plate. They feel very smooth and the actuation is at the right point. What else you may ask from a cheap mechanical switch?

That a tactile switch actually has some form of tactility. :(

The bump feels actually. However, ergo-clears are more tactile than Aliaz. The Aliaz's overall feeling is nicer, in my experience of course, due to the low tone noise along with a smooth travel up and down make them very nice to type on. Each one may look for their own preferred switch, but I think I found mine. Or at least, is the closest thing to be the one.

Aliaz 60-70 will be similar in weight to what the OP is used to. They are basically silent Gateron Browns. Low tactility, but they aren't linear. [Aliaz 70 does feel kinda comparable to Gateron Yellow, though].
I've used both weights in hotswap keyboards, and they are fine for typing / gaming, although the springs seem to be doing their own weird thing. Nothing show-stopping. Although Aliaz has been one of my slower switches for typing. I find them a little uncertain in hotswap. I'll know more when a TADA68 with Aliaz 60 arrives for a relative in a month - then I can see what they are like soldered.
Tacit and Zilents are supposed to be very tactile, particularly the latter. It is really up to the OP whether they want a super-tactility top-bump switch like Zilents, or a low-tactility, pre-travel switch like the Aliaz.
I am typing on Ergo Clears right now, and they are definitely more tactile than the Aliaz. Ergo Clears are like a 'medium' tactile, maybe, whereas Zilents are on the highest end.
I can see why ideus reccs the Aliaz, as they are pretty straightforward. It's just that I found them better for gaming (especially the 60 gr weight) than for typing, partly because of the subdued uncertain noise they make. Some people find that the 70 gr feels more 'tactile,' and it is a very popular weight for the switch, but I think that they are mistaking the increased weight resistance for tactility. OP could easily test Aliaz by buying 20-30 of each in the 60 and 70 gr weights [there's a minimum order size on KBDFans] once Chinese shipping gets up and running again. Novelkeys will get them around the same time.
