Title: Charlie's Angels (2019)
Post by: tp4tissue on Mon, 02 March 2020, 19:40:59
Why did they hire Elizabeth banks to do this.

It makes no sense, she has neither the talent nor the experience for an action movie.  She's not even a good actress.  She Just got done ruining Pitch Perfect.

Are women even ok with women continuously being depicted in this superficial and vain manner?

Huh? I have seen a few reviews that said that Kristen Stewart was surprisingly good in it, relatively speaking of course.

It's not any one actress or any one plot device.

A movie is a delivery medium, so what's the message, here.

CAngl 2019,  Be Vain, Shoes, Cloths, Sports Cars, Parties,   Yay, look feminism, this is feminism right ?, girl power, eat Cheese + drink Alcohol, you can do it girls. Also, kick men to death when you get the chance.

The entire package of which is quite unnerving, is this is how any educated modern woman would choose to be represented?

I meant in general, not in that movie.

Ragging on Kstew may be somewhat unfair, has she's ever been given the opportunity to do any Acting.

She's always just been cast as the token glass-vase pretty girl caricatures. In these cases, she's not really allowed to be anything but be pretty and presentable at all times.

Maybe a more intellectual actor could put something fresh in these roles, but she's certainly too young to have that kind of depth.

I do know that the second old movie, Full Throttle, is one of 3 movies I've ever walked out on in theaters. That track record doesn't bode well for this, but it is a full reboot.
