Title: Duck Viper V1 Turn to Hot-Swappable?
Post by: paobit on Tue, 31 March 2020, 18:17:14
I currently have a duck viper v1 that's just gathering dust and rather make something out of it. Was wondering if I can turn it into a hot-swappable? Also, a brass plate available for v1 any chance (hot-swappable capable or not)? Sorry for the noobness. Would be greatly appreciated if someone leads me in the right direction.

I do not think that you can make it hot swap, I could be wrong. Which color do you have?

Figured as much. I have the silver one.

How about replacement PCBs?

Sure, you just have to solder in some hotswap sockets like Mill-Maxes

^this
MilMax sockets 7305 and (IIRC) 3305 are popular options. Groupbuys for them take place every 4 months or so. Alternatively, you can buy a large amount yourself through MilMax. This is a great mod, however, not all switches will be able to fit in to the sockets. Even if you go with more expensive, wider 7305's some pins will be too fat to fit in them.

If the pins are too fat, filing them down should do the trick
