Title: some recommendations on 65/60 keyboards?
Post by: KRMing on Mon, 13 April 2020, 05:53:51
Hi, I'm looking for a compact keyboard with 60/65 layout(hhkb is fine also), are there any recommendations?

It would be great if the keyboards match the following conditions.

1. Compact housing(no big margins on any side)

2. Full-aluminum housing

3. Brass plate option?

4. Hot-swap PCBs

I've found some keyboards that are available right now like the RAMA Jules, 7V, Graystudio Space65, but these aren't quite appealing.

Also, don't mind the budget(unless it's over $1K) so no need to be overly cheap :)

I wish I could have joined the GB on No.1 65 by Keycult or the Canoe :(

Are there any upcoming GBs that may fit my standards? Plz help a newbie out. Thx for reading.

KBDFANS, DROP ALT, but is sounds like you want something way above those. I can attest Rama is very nice. Although I have the KOYU which seems what you want. I believe it is long since sold out. Which is why I paid a fortune for mine. Drop Alt is honestly good if you put a brass plate on the bottom and KAT key caps are a bit better than the ones it comes with. Do not buy key caps from Drop! They just throw them all in a bag.

Honestly all the boards you picked are grail.

However If typing was what I was actually concerned about I would get a HHKB and have a titanium CNC case built. Which I have also done.

Thx for the reply. I should just wait for a decent 60/65. Until then, I'm just planning on fixing my current 87 keyboard. Tealios switches make some noise on the contact points, maybe should sort out another batch and lube them.
