Tp4 has read only one of the prequel books. Did not read the original.
Only saws the Dune2000 show.
Now, house atreides were betrayed, then kill kill kill, son and mother fled.
What Tp4 does not understand is, The CLAN can't just be those 3 people.
And I'm assuming these houses have entire planets worth of resources, Why was there not a simple next heir replaced, and business as usual ?
Even if there were no blood or lawful heirs, Surely the NEXT most powerful person FROM the Atreides Team, would simply fulfill that role ?
How does the book explain this convoluted Desert part, and lack of fight post assassination ??

It has been several decades since I read Dune (+ a couple of the sequels) so I can't answer your questions, but trying to understand a complex story line via some of the ancillary material in absence of the core will never work.

I've only read the original novel by frank herbert, which is amazing. The sequels shouldn't be thought of as canon. paul was placed on arrakis for his own safety. it's a typical royal line of succession, kill the guy at the top if you can't brainwash him. it's a good versus evil story. If evil won there would be no story to speak of.

It's about someone with special eyes or something. There's giant sand worms and spice, and a fat floating dude, and David Lynch directed it.
That's all I know.

There's giant sand worms and spice drugs,
fixed that for you

I've heard the original book is fantastic. Reading fantasy is time consuming I've a couple I've started like a year ago and need to get back to.

I'd definitely recommend reading the books and watching the original movie, it will explain alot more also alot is missed in the visual representations

A new movie-adaptation of the original book is supposed to come out this Christmas. Made by the same people who made Blade Runner 2049, and with a great cast... but we won't know until we see it.
I hope that the movie will be able to mediate the themes and twists from the book without it feeling rushed or glossing over (or changing!) important points.

Whoever controls the spice controls the universe

It will be like Dune, but different.

naw, Tp confused about the 1st Dune.
Buh, maybe the new movie will answer the question. It's suppose to be multipart though, might take YEARS...
Tp4 has some doubts as to whether peeps will turn out for the new Dune. Also considering, theaters are no more. Buh.... I guess if they release it direct to netflix, that'd be a first for such a high budget theater2netflix transfer.
